The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) is accepting applications from writers, visual artists, and composers for residencies in the foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Residencies will be scheduled between May 1 and August 31, 2022. vcca.com/apply
The current application includes several fully-funded fellowship opportunities, including the SSG & AC Edwards Fellowship, which aims to support female-identifying visual artists, with strong preference given to Native Americans. All Native American visual artists are encouraged to apply.
The artists who come to VCCA are provided with a private studio, a private bedroom with en-suite bathroom, and three nutritious meals a day. Artists are granted solitary time to focus on their art, and are also part of a collaborative community of cross-disciplinary artists that provides insights, new ideas, and stimulating conversation. VCCA Fellows are free to work at their own pace in quiet, spacious, light-filled studios, just a short walk from their residence overlooking the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
In addition to a rotating selection of fully-funded fellowships available at each annual application deadline (January 15, May 15, and September 15), significant financial aid is always available. Through the support of our funders, all eligible applicants demonstrating financial need are considered for financial aid funding to help cover the cost of their residency. At each deadline, applicants are considered for a VCCA residency and as many fully-funded fellowships for which they are eligible; only one application with a single $50 application fee is required per deadline.
The mission of the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) is to provide time and space for national and international writers, visual artists, and composers of talent and promise to bring forth their finest works, because the arts are vital, diversity is a strength, and creativity is essential.
