Mary Ann Moore (Senoj)

Visual artist Mary Ann Moore (Senoj) was born and raised in central Oklahoma where she also cultivated her award-winning career. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Oklahoma City University and a Master of Education with Emphasis in Art from the University of Central Oklahoma. Coming from a family of crafters and creatives she “couldn’t see [herself] majoring in anything else” but visual arts. Her family, ancestry and faith are very important to her and influence all of the work she creates.

Moore was offered a position as an educator at Oklahoma City Community College shortly after receiving her MFA where she would spend 40 years as a visual arts professor before retiring in 2014. During her career she has received numerous awards, grants and commissions, spearheading several high profile projects throughout Oklahoma, such as, “The Devon Centennial Mosaic Murals” in Bricktown, Oklahoma City. This project took several years to complete but also provided valuable opportunities for her students to learn from and contribute to the project. She maintains a studio in Oklahoma City where she continues her painting and ceramics, including her well known mosaic works.
